Artistic and Conceptual awareness in Pastel
With Larry Walden

Larry Walden has been painting with pastels for over 10 years and has exhibited in national juried shows. His academic training was at the Art Students league of New York where he received a certificate of completion in fine arts. In the late 1990’s Larry took a pastel workshop with Arlene Hooker-Fay and found the medium intriguing.
Students will work on technical considerations of composition, design, massing, value, line and color. The importance of artistic and conceptual awareness will be emphasized while formulating a BIG IDEA and keeping it from the beginning to the finished painting. Larry believes knowing what makes a good painting is the same for all mediums and this knowledge is the reason the work of artists is art.
The class will work from still life setups and photographs in a classroom setting. Larry will demonstrate and critique work and you may bring work not related to the class on the final day for critique. A supply list will be sent upon registration.

As an artist devoted to watercolor since 1991, Joyce thoroughly enjoys teaching students to find their own personal expression. Joyce has appeared in Splash 8 and Splash 10. She has written articles for Watercolor Magic, American Artist Magazine, and is the author of “Stunning Crystal and Glass” with a DVD that is the companion to the book. She has appeared on “The Painting Gourmet” as a guest artist and is co-host to an award winning television instruction program titled “Art2Art”. I’m Linda Parisi and I host fine art workshops in Ocean Shores, WA. The purpose of this blog is to publicize and provide information about the workshops I host.

History: I am building on the workshop hosting work of Ms. Patti Sells, another friend and artist. She has hosted art workshops by Ann Kullberg, Myrna Wacknov and Stan Miller in Ocean Shores. Now it’s time for Patti to move on to other projects, and me to take over.
Ocean Shores Workshops has recently become part of the Associated Arts of Ocean Shores. We’re pleased with the affiliation. It will enable us to continue to bring quality art workshops to the Washington coast!
